Never thought I'd be a weather wimp, but

A VERY COLD STORM SYSTEM OVER THE GULF OF ALASKA WILL MOVE SOUTHEAST
INTO THE WESTERN GREAT BASIN LATE THURSDAY. THIS STORM WILL MOVE
SLOWLY EAST THROUGH NEVADA...AND STRENGTHEN AS IT APPROACHES WESTERN
UTAH. THIS SLOW-MOVING STORM WILL PRODUCE SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF
PRECIPITATION OVER WESTERN UTAH LATE THURSDAY NIGHT AND INTO FRIDAY.
THE CENTER OF THE STORM WILL MOVE ACROSS UTAH LATE FRIDAY NIGHT
THROUGH SATURDAY. THE VERY COLD AIR ASSOCIATED WITH THIS STORM
WILL DRIVE SNOW LEVELS DOWN TO THE LOWEST ELEVATIONS OF NORTHERN
AND CENTRAL UTAH. HEAVY SNOWFALL COULD DEVELOP ABOVE 6000 FEET...
ESPECIALLY THROUGH THE WASATCH RANGE AND THE CENTRAL UTAH MOUNTAINS.
THE STORM WILL MOVE EAST OF THE STATE ON SUNDAY. VERY COLD TEMPERATURES
WILL REMAIN IN THE WAKE OF THIS STORM. MORNING LOWS ON SUNDAY COULD
BE WELL BELOW FREEZING ACROSS WESTERN UTAH. AFTERNOON HIGH TEMPERATURES
ON SUNDAY COULD END UP 15 TO 25 DEGREES BELOW EARLY OCTOBER
NORMALS STATEWIDE.
PERSONS PLANNING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES THIS COMING WEEKEND SHOULD STAY
TUNED FOR UPDATES ON THIS COLD EARLY SEASON STORM SYSTEM.

Hey, Phoenix, are you enjoying your 86 degrees?

I'm sorry, Emily. You are not a wimp-- in fact, you are magnificent to agree to move here. I admire you for being so supportive of Steve. I'm the wimp b/c I would have told Jason that we were staying in AZ!

Yeah, I hate snow. . .

Oh, poor Emily. I really hope you have warm weather clothes for your kids already so you don't have to spend your week shopping for coats.

I feel your pain!

86 in October? That's miserable! How could anyone live like that?

Sweating in October ought to be illegal.

Should we be nervous about the weather next week too?

Hopefully Steve's job worked in a little extra mula for a new winter wardrobe for 6! Let me just say it's still too hot here! But the nights and the evenings are quite wonderful. Did you leave your barbeque?

Hey I'm assuming this is Emily Craig from Phx! Am I right? Don't worry about the weather. Your AZ blood will soon get used to the winter up here. Just bundle up and enjoy how beautiful it is. So are you and your family living in Provo now? When did you move? You should come to the layers shirt party i am having at my house next wednesday (oct 10th) from 6-9pm (open house). it would be fun to see a familiar phx face and visit with you. if you're interested let me know and i'll send you my address. i'm in salt lake so not too far away. hope all is well.

Loving every minute of it. I'm sorry you are cold.

Not loving every minute of it but whatever. My sister and I seem to disagree on this point.

I'm jealous. I'm seriously craving a chill.

So I know I'm way late on commenting on this post. But I figure you'll find it Emily.:) I just wanted to tell you what makes cold weather cozy and endearing, at least for me. Soup--I have been craving soup, but it's still too hot here to enjoy that. Get out your greatest recipes and try some new ones and serve it with hot bread--YUM! I also love curling up and reading a good book under a nice blanket when those storms blow in. That is definitely cozy. Let's see...hot chocolate and a warm fire. And I love getting dressed up warm and going outside for a walk--the fall leaves crunch under your feet and it's so beautiful. You have to drive up the canyon to really appreciate the beauty of fall--it's breathtaking. Everyone gets tired of winter and cold by February, but there are some things to look forward to at first. I'm sure it takes time to love it though. So don't feel bad if you don't love it this year, or for a long time. :)

But I have to admit, I am enjoying the cooler temperatures here and feel like this is why Phoenix is great (as opposed to August and September temperatures.)
