Long time no blog

Hi, my name is Emily and I am a Utah resident.

We made it! We have made the transition from upper middle class in Arizona to lower middle class in Utah County, or something like that.

The weather is awesome, but it feels threatening, like it thinks it is going to turn really cold really soon. I'm on to you, weather. The Costco is much the same as our Arizona Costco, except the eggs are twice as expensive here. The grass is softer in Utah. The kids have to start school at 8 in the morning (!), which means we will have to start waking up sometime before 8. We've already been in attendance at a performance by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and it was spectacular. All in all, things are good thus far.

I'm waiting for Disneyland to email a picture of me going to town with a laser gun in one hand and a baby/baby bottle in the other a la Astro Blasters. If they ever send it, which is starting to look doubtful, I might have something to post again soon. If not, I'll try hard to think up something to blog about. My brother-in-law seems to not have any trouble thinking up things to blog about, as evidenced by his 15 posts a day. RIchard never fails to entertain.

Eggs and grass. Not a bad trade-off.

Arizona feels empty without you. We're actually having an autumnal kind of day here. Overcast skies, occasional sprinkles, high of only 88. I'm imagining the boys playing in the side yard. And I'm glad they had such a good first day of school.

I've been in Utah 5 years and never experienced a Mormon Tabernacle Choir spectacular. Lucky.

Glad you're here.

Emily! I'm glad that you arrived safely in the holy land. I concur with your mom, it does feel empty without you. Although, I may see you more now that you are there. I couldn't see you less, right? Happy settling!

It's funny, Natalie, Utah feels empty without you, too! And you, of course, mom. But Abby's here (moment of silence in appreciation for Abby), and soft grass is here and America's choir, and Lys, if you are reading this, you are here, too, and it was so much fun to see you tonight.

School starts at 8:00 for elementary school? ouch. We're 9:00... different school district.

Glad to hear that the move went well. It truly is a grand place to live, and you moved here during the very best season.

Have you ever taken your kids to 'This is the Place' heritage park? Your kids will love it. Also the children's discovery museum at the Gateway. Hansen planeterium, too. Ride Trax to get there, it's part of the fun. Wow, I'm chock full of unsolicited suggestions this morning!

Our astro blaster picture came, but went to my junk mail box, and I almost missed it. Did you check your junk mail?

I'm glad you made it to Utah Emily, and sorry about your ankle. Does your school not do extended day? We always went from 9:30 to 3:30 instead of the 8:00 to 2:00 route as my mom is no morning person. Enjoy the fall weather....it is one thing I miss the most!

Jordan, it does, but the principal wouldn't let us do the later time schedule, because there were already too many people. Whatever! This schedule is going to kill us, but at least Steve can take the kids on his way to work (also earlier than we're used to.)

Did you get moved in?

I’m just whittling down a backlog of topics. 40 or 50 more posts and then I’ll slow down. Plus, Becky puts the kibosh on my computer usage if I’m on too long. :-)

We're hot on your tails as far as the Magic Kingdom goes. I hope Sam is tall enough!

I've actually really grown to like the 8 a.m. school, although there it will start to get cold, and that will make it harder I suppose. Lower class? The people in your ward probably won't want to hear you refer to them as a "lower class."
