I'm on a YouTube/hymn/slideshow kick

Well, since I'm on a YouTube/hymn/slideshow kick, I thought I'd post this fantastic rendition of one of my favorite hymns. We recently got the BYU Humanities Dept. mag they send out to all their alumni, and in it was a piece about Elvis' rendition of this song, and how the half-hearted Mormon congregational version doesn't quite measure up. I'm not sure how that article ended -- I only made it through half before I was called away, but I am quite in agreement about the assessment of the first half of the article. I'm not an Elvis fan, but this rocks.

Impressive; I have actually come to appreciate Elvis' music as an adult; didn't care that much for it as a kid. I'm so old I can remember watching if not his first performance on Ed Sullivan at least one of the first. Black and white TV only back then. Just sign me out as Dust... as in old as.

My sister and I sang this at my grandmother's funeral (her favorite hymn, and also one of mine) though our rendition is a bit different. Coincidentally, we sang it again today (for about the 100th time over the last 10 years) at our family devotional at the ranch. Ask Sarah how it compared to Elvis. :)

Alice, you and Helena blow Elvis away. Your song was lovely. Your voices blend so well together!

I just emailed my family that article! I thought it was so good. And I love Trent Hickman.
