Three things we could talk about if you came over for dinner

1. I just passed a sign [or perhaps: eye just past a sine?] on the corner of State and Center streets in Orem. It was a nice, expensive, printed banner that had on it something like this:

Children's Toy Drive
Unwrapped presents excepted here

To which I say: Sometimes spell-check just isn't enough.

2. The most interesting news of the day suggests a probable link between working the night shift and getting cancer. Really. Apparently, it is not good to disturb the circadian rhythms. Other things to think about: I sometimes wonder if it is dangerous that my husband takes melatonin every night to fall asleep, like maybe it has some sort of addictive sleeping pills quality about it. But according to this article, melatonin suppresses tumor development. But then again, taking the supplements could inhibit the body's natural ability to produce melatonin. What to do, what to do? Because if he doesn't take it, then he doesn't sleep, and then hello, cancer! Also, it seems that my mother was right all those mornings while I was growing up when she would come into my bedroom to waken me and be dismayed to see that I had fallen asleep reading and left the light on all night long. I always asked what the big deal was, because if I was asleep, I was asleep. Not so. The body needs to sleep in the darkness. Hmm. Also, prostate problems/cancer are apparently aggravated by not getting enough sleep, but as I understand it, people who have prostrate issues often wake often and early to empty their bladders, right? It seems we have a vicious cycle.

3. What it is about Costco's red meat that tastes so nasty? It has a blood sort of smell/taste that I just can't handle. Red meat from grocery stores=ok. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

What do you think? What else would you like to talk about?

Very interesting--had no idea that inproper sleeping habits could lead to cancer. I'm in trouble...

Our dinner would last for hours...I could talk all day about spelling errors I see and read on a daily basis. Nothing irritates me more!

I think we should talk about how you just moved to the most depressed state in the nation! What are we doing living here?

Leaving the light on all night stresses me out. Hello! Wasted energy!

Oh yes! These are ALL very good dinner conversations. Seriously.

I get so irked and dismayed when people misspell words, most especially in important situations (it's OK to misspell on the old blog here and there--but in a magazine or newspaper or billboard? Never!).

Melatonin is a wonder hormone (it's not considered a drug) and I'm not looking back yet.

Oh, and the milk too at Costco! It has an aftertaste (I guess, "side taste") that is very animal like and gives me a sort of gag reflex when I drink it plain. I can't handle it, but it's so cheap...as you would say, "what to do?"

I think the misspellings are amusing and funny, but not irritating. It would be too much wasted energy being irritated about something that's not that big a deal (IMO).

Maybe I oughtta get me some of that wonder hormone! ;-) sounds good!

Raw meat in general makes me gag. However, stinky raw meat makes me gag more. Wal mart meat is THE WORST! It stinks and looks like worms. Maybe for a dinner conversation we could talk about why WalMart is so wrong (yet necessary) on so many levels. I am off to sleep in my dark room, without the aid of "hormones" or drugs...sweet dreams.

Agreed on the Melatonin, it's seeming "wonder drug" statis troubles me, as though it were soylent green or something. Red meat also troubles me if I think about it too much. I almost never buy it, but then again, I don't really cook.
Plenty to talk about.

ah hem, there's out front of an ATV store hanging on a 4 wheeler that says:

"layaway for Chrismas"

I guess they didn't want to get all religious on us.

I think the idea of polyphasic sleep is very interesting and could be included in your sleep conversation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyphasic_sleep

I have only purchased red meat from Costco once, and Mark thought it was good. The whole red meat section makes me want to look away, at the very least.

How long has Steve been on drugs?

Update: today, the sign was spelled right. They had a new banner printed!
