Pretend you care

Once a year or so, springtime compels me to go shopping and splurge (by my frugal standards) on some new components of my wardrobe.

Today, Isaac and Norah and I hit the sales racks at Anthropologie pretty hard and--after running into our cute pediatrician who "usually doesn't say hi to people in public" but said hi to us nonetheless--we came away with a few delightful but inexpensive treasures to adorn my person.

Presenting Emily's Springtime Splurge of 07:

Self-explanatory top, in a color I used to wear a lot in high school, when I wore boy clothes.

It seems like skirts from Anthro last forever, they are such great quality. Bonus when they are cheap, cheap!

A whimsical purchase. I think it is the first bathrobe I have ever had in my life.

Because Abby bought some, and Abby is cool.

I also got two other things that do not have available pictures on the website, probably because they were marked down so far. Oh wait, three other things. An awesome cropped denim jacket with a big hood, a pale yellow tank shirt that I may or may not wear that was only $9.95, and a pink slip for $5.

Hooray for Anthropologie sales racks and hooray for springtime!

[Addendum, just for fun: Regular sticker price for the seven items I bought (as if!)=$534. I paid=$145.70. So satisfying!]

Aren't you so glad that we are over that boy clothes stage? From 1990 to 1995 I swear I was the worst dresser. Aside from a few skirts for church, I think that all my apparel came from men's side of J. Crew, The Gap, and Eddie Bauer.

The tin of Rosebud (?) Salve is a hit. I first saw it last Saturday coming out of Diana's purse. Then Abby, then Emily. The clothes are very sassy, Emily. I like them a lot.

very cute. I want to go to Anthro! I must ask, what is rosbud salve for?

Hey, couldn't the robe do double duty as a swim cover-up?

i think anthropologie (sic) takes the price for the same item at savers, moves the decimal one over and, voila, a $53.40 getup is now $534!

There is nothing more satisfying than a good deal.

N, you may be on to something. Sometimes it is very hard indeed to discern A. goods from Savers goods. So I was robbed.

Sarah, Jordan posted about it: you can use it for your lips, cuticles, dry skin, and even for pomade! It's the miracle rosebud salve!! Personally, I think the sun will melt it and it will goop all over my purse. Also, interesting point about the swimsuit coverup option. But, I think it would look too much like a bathrobe from Savers.

Amy, you and I share the frugal bug. And the travel bug. We're the same person.

Alyssa, I look to the emergence of the feminine, hippie, fashion-forward side of you in college as one of the most fascinating, awe-inspiring transformations I have witnessed. I didn't see you all that often sophomore year, so it took me by great surprise. It was, and you are, awesome.

Alice and Pepper and Mom, THANK YOU!

*applauding your stylin' frugality*

Very cute stuff! I've never seen stuff at Anthropologie marked down that low. I browsed at TJ Maxx today. I feel so low-brow. :)

I keep coming back to your blog and drooling over your spring purchases. It's so hard to even think about spring here. We currently have a foot of snow in our front yard. :(

Well, I'm off to Anthro to return one Savers-style bathrobe/swimsuit cover-up (too big) and one pale yellow tank (won't wear it).

Thought I should be forthcoming about my returns.

Alyssa, come visit. Bea-u-tiful weather here!
